Extracorporeal CPR (ECPR)
Using ECMO during cardiac arrest when conventional CPR fails.
Key point
Extracorporeal CPR may be considered for selected in-hospital pediatric arrests unresponsive to conventional CPR in appropriately resourced hospitals, with insufficient evidence for out-of-hospital use.

All specialties →Whole blood in trauma resuscitation
Transfusing whole blood instead of separate components in bleeding trauma patients.
Tranexamic acid in bleeding
Tranexamic acid in trauma and other acute haemorrhage.
Key point: Tranexamic acid does not affect all-cause mortality, functional outcomes, neurological impairment, or hematoma expansion in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage, despite reducing hematoma volume.
Video laryngoscopy
Video laryngoscopes for tracheal intubation.
Key point: For neonatal and infant airway management, videolaryngoscopy is the first choice for intubation, with apneic oxygenation during the attempt.
REBOA
Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta for major haemorrhage.
Ketamine in emergency and prehospital care
Ketamine for analgesia, sedation and intubation in the ED and before hospital.
Key point: Sentinel adverse events were extremely rare, strongly supporting the safety of ED ketamine for procedural sedation of children.
Balanced crystalloids vs saline
Comparing balanced solutions such as lactated Ringer's with normal saline for fluid therapy.
Key point: Balanced crystalloid policies were not associated with a clear reduction in mortality or acute kidney injury in cluster-randomized evaluations of routine care.

How these numbers are counted
PubMed query, searched in titles and abstracts by publication date:
ECPR[tiab] OR "extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation"[tiab]Trials: ClinicalTrials.gov studies first submitted in each 12-month window that match the same terms. A query can miss synonyms or catch unrelated papers, so treat counts as approximate.
